Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris is an Indian Punjabi language historical romantic drama film. In 18th century India, Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb have banned music. He thinks that music turns a person away from God. Musicians went underground to save their lives. They started to live in a village away from cities. Baba Makhdoom is a musician who has fans. Waris Shah joins him but Baba asks him to feel his inner pain to purify his music and poetry. Waris moves to a village Malkan Hans where he falls in love with Bhaagpari. Saboo is another girl who falls for Waris and she is ready to do anything to get him. As the truth reveals upon the Village’s head that he is a musician and people are becoming fans of him, he orders the arrest of Waris. Bhaagpari is forced to marry Saboo’s brother as it was decided earlier. Waris and Bhagpari were blamed for having a sexual relationship without getting married. As soon as Waris’s poem is completed as he feels the real pain, he leaves the village. The movie was released in 2006.
